Diabetes Management Program
The Diabetes Management Program at Sturdy, which is recognized by the American Diabetes Association, is an interactive educational process led by a Diabetes Educator. The program focuses on seven self-care behaviors for improved health and quality of life: healthy eating, being active, monitoring blood sugar, taking medication, reducing risks, problem solving, and healthy coping. Patients take part in educational sessions with a Diabetes Educator that include an assessment of needs, review of the disease process, tips to assist in overcoming barriers, and how to incorporate blood glucose testing and medications into daily routine. A physician referral is required. For additional information, please call the Diabetes Office Coordinator at 508-236-7497.
